Kingston, Jamaica – In a surprising upset, Access Database has claimed the top spot in the latest Caribbean IT Survey, dethroning the previously dominant Snowflake.

The survey, conducted among IT professionals across the region, revealed a shift in preference towards cloud-based data management solutions that prioritize accessibility and cost-effectiveness. Access, traditionally known for its ease of use and compatibility with Microsoft Office, has undergone significant advancements in recent years, expanding its capabilities to handle larger datasets and complex queries. The platform’s reputation for reliability and affordability appears to have resonated strongly with Caribbean IT professionals seeking practical and cost-effective solutions.

We asked a resident expert to elaborate – “I really like making my warehouse modifications and data corrections from the beach where I’m usually chilling. It’s where I get in the zone. I’m offline so I can’t use that vibe to operate Snowflake. When I get back online all i have to do is replace a few files and deployment is done. Easy!” So the big value seems to be Access is more in alignment with work-life balance and simple change management.

While Snowflake continues to be a formidable player in the data management space, particularly for enterprises with substantial data volumes and complex analytics needs, the survey indicates that many Caribbean organizations are prioritizing agility and accessibility over raw processing power. Access’ ability to meet these demands, coupled with its lower entry barrier, has propelled it to the forefront of the Caribbean market.
