In a bizarre turn of events, the latest trend on the App Store is crowd-generating apps that promise to make any politician’s rally look like a sold-out Beyoncé concert. Because, who needs actual supporters when you can simulate them?
“CrowdMaster” , the top-selling app, boasts a 4.5-star rating and claims to “revolutionize political campaigning” by generating “hyper-realistic crowds” that will make your opponents green with envy. Or, at the very least, make them question their own sanity.
“We’re not just selling an app, we’re selling hope,” said John Smith, CEO of CrowdMaster. “Hope that your candidate’s message will resonate with the, uh, ‘crowd’.”
“RallyRinger” , another popular choice, offers a range of customizable crowd sizes and even allows users to input their own chants and slogans. Because what’s a rally without a few dozen people shouting “USA! USA!” in unison?
“Our app is a game-changer,” said Jane Doe, RallyRinger’s marketing director. “No more embarrassing town halls with only 12 people in attendance. We’ll make it look like the whole town showed up!”
And then there’s “CrowdCrafter” , which takes it a step further by allowing users to create their own custom crowd avatars. Want a crowd of enthusiastic seniors or a sea of hipster millennials? CrowdCrafter’s got you covered.
“We’re not manipulating public perception at all,” said Bob Johnson, CrowdCrafter’s CEO. “We’re just…augmenting reality. Yeah, that’s it.”
As one reviewer noted, “I used CrowdCrafter to make my garage band’s gig look like Coachella. Now we’re getting booked for actual festivals!”
While some have raised concerns about the ethics of these apps, their creators insist they’re just “leveling the playing field.”
And who knows? Maybe one day we’ll have a president elected entirely by a crowd of simulated supporters. Stranger things have happened, right?
